The course targets both new and experienced radio surveyors performing yearly technical inspections of GMDSS/AIS installations. Delegates obtains a certificate issued by MARTEC as a classification society (here DNV) approved training provider. The content is targeting the requirement for class-approved training as and when required by flag state.
The objective of this training is to ensure companies engaged in delivering GMDSS related services on vessels, have qualified personnel to perform inspection and testing of radio equipment, installations and automatic identification systems (AIS), according to international, flag state and class societies standards (SOLAS chapter IV).
To qualify as a surveyor certified to conduct GMDSS/AIS Surveys onboard vessels and offshore installations, all radio surveyors are to have pre-qualifications as:
Holder of a valid General Operator Certificate of Competence (GOC).
Be part of a company, certified to conduct GMDSS/AIS Surveys
When required by flag states – certification from a training provider approved by a classification society.
This course provides the delegate with in-depth insight in international standards covering GMDSS/AIS Surveys.
It is the purpose to cover requirements for certification as described in IMO COMSAR/Circ. 32 – Harmonization of GMDSS Requirements for SOLAS Radio installations as well as UZ 17- Procedural requirements for Service Suppliers.
Training is in accordance to DNV ST-0008 learning standards and DNV CP-0484 using the DNV issued standard GMDSS Survey Reports and user instructions, covering EPIRP, AIS and GMDSS equipment.
Further the course includes training in how to perform survey tests when using approved test equipment e.g. Danphone Futronic MKII and similar. Delegates are most welcome to bring own test equipment to the course.
